The West Hill facility is well equipped to deal with various types of on- and off-site emergencies. A documented plan outlines the response procedures to be taken should an emergency occur. The plan is shared with the local first responders as well as various municipal, regional and provincial agencies.
As a member of Toronto East CAER (Community Awareness & Emergency Response) Association, LANXESS works with various other companies, first responders and the municipality to ensure that local residents understand what to do in an emergency.
Toronto East CAER maintains an emergency warning system. If the Community Siren system is activated, it is important for residents to know how to Shelter-in-Place. The steps to Shelter-in-Place are outlined below.
This siren system can be activated by any of the CAER (Community Awareness & Emergency Response) members in the former West Hill area.
